About the ship
Rhapsody of the Seas is a jewel in the Royal Caribbean's crown. Boasting a number of bars and restaurants, there is no shortage of dishes to choose from during your time on board. Snacks and afternoon teas are also served for when you get a bit peckish.
You'll be staying in an Interior Stateroom, however, if you fancy really treating yourself cabin upgrades are available from an extra £199 and you'll also receive free drinks with this - simply enquire when you call.
The ship boasts a number of fantastic entertainment options from rock climbing to live shows and an on board arcade to outdoor movie nights, there's something for everyone on board. If that all seems a bit too fast paced for you, there is always the option of whiling away your on board hours next to one of the several pools available to you.
Overnight stay in Mestre, Venice
Before embarking on your epic adventure, you'll be staying over night in Mestre, just outside of Venice. So you can spend some time exploring this historic city gazing at the gondolas, taking a walking tour or simply sampling the local cuisine before retiring to your room at the 3* Aaron Hotel.
Tipping etiquette on cruises
Cruise tipping is quite a hot topic at the moment. Officially, tipping (or gratuities as they are often referred to on cruise ships) are not compulsory. However, these days, lots of the big cruiselines automatically add them to your room bill as a per day charge (which is why we've mentioned it above so you don't have any nasty surprises while on board).
You can, in theory, go to guest services during your cruise and ask for them to be removed but this is considered really poor form (akin to not tipping wait staff in the States). Alternatively, you can ask for them to be removed and ask for individual tipping envelopes so that you can tip an amount that you deem appropriate for the staff that you feel deserve it.
