Colombia
Bogotá is the cosmopolitan capital of Colombia and as such has the best restaurants, art & cultural life. It is located 2640 metres above sea level in the picturesque Colombian Andes Mountains.
You'll find colonial buildings alongside modern skyscrapers and traditional dishes like ajiaco alongside imported hits such as sushi. Bogotá is a great base for exploring the country, as the Colombian low cost airlines will whisk you around the country for cheap (see below).
The capital has some of the country's best hotels, find them in our Hotels Finder!
Domestic Flights
Colombia is a big country with some rugged terrain. The best way to get around is by plane. As well as international airlines such as Avianca and Latam, the country has low cost carriers such as Wingo and Viva Colombia. You can get to the Caribbean island of San Andrés for just £32 each way.
Be sure to check out the neighbouring island of Providencia for a sight of a truly different world. For some local hospitality, stay at a 'posada nativa' on San Andrés:
