Pirate Top Tip
If you're looking to save some money on fuel we say it's a good idea to invest in an AA fuel card. Collect points every time you fill up at certain fuel stations to accrue money off each time!
You'll land in the bustling city of Auckland, so why not make it stop no. 1 on your itinerary? Often mistaken as NZ's capital, Auckland has a range of sights to see including the Sky Tower and Mt Eden - a dormant volcano on top of which you get the most amazing views.
Waipu Cove and Langs Beach
Heading up north on State Highway 1 these two tiny beach towns are often missed off most NZ tourist's 'to do' lists. However, they both boast stunning white sandy beaches that are often deserted as well as great surf and some awe inspiring views across the bay.
Bay of Islands, Pahia and Cape Reinga
A big draw for tourists due to the regular dolphin visitors, the Bay of Islands and surrounding area has a lot to offer tourists. Take a boat our to see if you can spot pods of dolphins or orcas, drive into the historic Kauri forests or - for some higher octane fun - there's always a jet sky tour of the bay! A 'must see' is the iconic lighthouse up at Cape Reinga, the most northern point of NZ where you can also witness the coming together of the Tasman Sea and Pacific ocean.
Now here's something for the Lord of the Rings fans out there, a trip to New Zealand wouldn't be complete without a tour of the Hobbiton film set. See the real Hobbit houses used in the films as well as having a drink in the iconic Green Dragon pub!
Journey to the south of North Island to the country's capital. Also known as the windy city, Wellington is the gateway to the South Island if you wish to extend your NZ trip. You can get a ferry across to Picton and enjoy views of the Cook Strait.
Back in Wellington, this trendy city has a laid back, bohemian vibe. Hipster cafes sell what is arguably some of the best coffee in NZ whilst vintage boutique stores display unique wares. Just outside of Wellington lies the Wetta Workshops, where many of Hollywood's blockbusters create their special effects and CGI scenes - a must visit for all you movie buffs out there!
Gisborne & Waikato
Heading back up north, enter prime wine country in the Gisborne area. There are oodles of wine tasting tours to be enjoyed in this region as well as spectacular hikes and walks.
