About your stay
You'll fly to the other end of the world (literally) as you travel across 11 time zones and through 2 continents to get to Australia. When you land in Melbourne, you'll clear customs and immigration (UK passport holders can now use the automated e-gates) before collecting your bags and making your way to the city centre.
Your hotel is located in Melbourne's city centre, a stones throw from Southern Cross train station and on the doorstep of numerous cafes, restaurants and rooftop bars, for which the city is famous. The Yarra River is less than a 10-minute walk away where you will find the Southbank which is popular with tourists. Bourke St Mall and Flinders St station are also easily accessible by free tram from outside your hotel.
The hotel itself is a basic 4* which features a gym, bar and restaurant. Rooms are air-conditioned, and some even have city skyline views.
While in Melbourne, we recommend taking a day trip along the Great Ocean Road to see the 12 Apostles, or perhaps take a trip to the Yarra Valley where you can pick some grapes and sample fine Australian wine and cheese. You might also enjoy taking a trip to Mt Buller, which in September may still have some snow which means you can go skiing. Or if you don't fancy venturing too far, hop on a tram to St Kilda and enjoy the beach and bars, before taking a picture on front of the iconic Luna Park Melbourne.
Need a car hire?
As airport transfers aren't included in this package, you might want to consider getting your own set of wheels for your holiday. You could snap one up for the break using our car comparison tool from £132 in total.
Getting there and getting around
Luckily, the bus from Melbourne Airport will drop you on the doorstep of your hotel. The Skybus will cost approximately £11 per person, each way and takes about half an hour. Melbourne operates a free tram system within certain areas of the CBD, and luckily this hotel falls into that region. You can jump on a tram from outside your door and travel to Bourke Street Mall or over to Flinders Street station. If you want to venture further afield to the beach, you'll need to get a Mykii card (similar to London's Oyster card) and tap on and off as you travel.
