Croatian islands are having a moment right now and Hvar is one of our favourites. It's just 30 minutes by ferry from Split and has some of the most turquoise waters in the Mediterranean.
A 7-night autumn holiday there is available from just £296 per person, based on 2 sharing. Staying at the luscious Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort, it also includes return flights to Split and breakfast daily. It's cheapest from London but is also available from many UK and Irish airports.
October is by no means peak season but we've checked and the weather should still be nice enough for a holiday, with temperatures of up to 23 degrees.

About your stay
If you are looking for chilled out luxury, then this Croatian Island holidays is for you. On the island of Hvar, off the south coast of the country, the Amfora Grand Beach Resort is one of the best hotel's available. A solid 4*, it's just a 2 minute walk from the beach, which is situated on a secluded bay.
Sea views are one of the highlights (which all rooms have) and Hvar’s centre is only a 10-minute walk away. The freeform, outdoor pool area is another highlight, with cabanas for lounging, and cocktails served in the stylish poolside Cascades Restaurant. There's a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views where you'll get your included breakfast.
As Hvar is an island, you'll need to catch a ferry. From Split, you can get a bus or taxi from the airport to the ferry port and then get a ferry to the island. Prices are quite reasonable; they shouldn't cost more than £5-8 per person each way. From Hvar port you can either walk to your hotel or get a taxi.
