'Red List': the 33 high-risk countries under UK hotel quarantine rules

The government has announced the list of 33 'red list' countries from which visitors into the UK, including British citizens, will have to quarantine for 10 days in a hotel at their own cost.

This is to prevent the spread of new variants of Covid-19.

Travellers will have to self-isolate in state-provided hotels for 10 days "without exception", at their own expense.

The majority of the countries included are in Africa and South America although Portugal is also on the list as a major transport hub for flights to Brazil.
