Happy International Museum Day! We all know and love the popular art and history museums around the world - the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City - but what about the ones that aren't as well known?

2. The Icelandic Phallological Museum - Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland is incredibly proud of this museum, which features penises of all shapes and sizes. The Icelandic Phallological Museum features penises from almost every mammal that lives on land and sea creatures galore! If you visit, don't miss the section on whales.

3. The Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum - Osaka, Japan

Do you owe your student existence to ramen? You wouldn't be the only one! Now you can pay homage to the creator of ramen in Osaka, Japan at the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum. You can watch a movie about the history of ramen, watch it made in the factory, and sample it in the tasting room. And if that isn't enough for you, learn how you can sleep in a cup of ramen.

4. Museum of Failure - Helsingborg, Sweden

You can't succeed without failure! The Museum of Failure, set to open on June 7th features products and ideas that have failed. Think Google Glass, Bic for Her and Coca-Cola Blak. Check it out, and be inspired to fail!

5. French Fry Museum - Bruges, Belgium

You could say this is the world's ultimate fast food museum, because who doesn't love french fries?! Located in the Belgian city of Bruges, the Frietmuseum (to give it its proper name) is the world's 'first and only' museum dedicated to potato fries!

6. Avanos Hair Museum - Avanos, Turkey

This museum opened 30 years ago when a girl gave her first lock of hair, after being sad that she had to leave the town. Since then, women from around the world have been donating their hair. It currently has more than 16,000 donations. If you intend to do the same, you will find scissors as well as pen and paper to leave your hair in Avanos forever...

7. The Neon Museum - Warsaw, Poland

Let's move on to a brighter collection! In the heart of the Polish capital, you can admire the delights of neon signs and it is surely going to brighten up your day! The collection is focussed on researching and restoring the last surviving remnants of the ‘great neonisation’ campaign across the former Eastern Bloc.
