if pirates do not sail across the seven seas, they like to chill out on a paradise island with a glass of rum ...
We do not know if that is the reason for the naming, but in Indonesia you can enjoy your vacation on 'Le Pirate Island', a one hour boat ride from Flores Island. When you get there you can expect a stunning sandy beach, an intact coral reef and with cool accommodation!
There is not much to see and discover on the island and that is exactly what makes it a dream destination! There are no electronics (and therefore no internet), nor hot water. But delicious cocktails at the bar, the opportunity to snorkel and incomparable accommodations!
You spend the night in stylish tents or huts at lofty heights. There are only 10 accommodations on the island - so you don't have to fear a hoard of tourists fighting it out to secure a sun-lounger.
The tents are either directly on the beach or a few metres behind in the second row. They offer a private bathroom and a place to sunbathe.
The huts built on piles are simpler but not less stylish. If you climb the ladder, your bedroom awaits you, including a shady spot to relax.
Sounds beautiful, and is also sinfully cheap? With prices starting from only £25* a night
But how do you get to such a lonely island? The start is in Labuan Bajo, a place on the westernmost tip of the island of Flores. Flores itself is one of the Little Sunda Islands. Flights to Flores are available from Denpasar (Bali) or Kupang (Timor), among others. From Labuan Bajo, it's about an hour by boat shuttle that goes to Le Pirate Island every day.
f you are not planning to spend the night on the island, you can also take a day trip there.
