On the fence about a holiday to Spain? In an effort to boost tourism, the regional government of the Canary Islands will now cover any costs for holidaymakers if they catch the virus on their trip. This means medical expenses will be covered, as well as any quarantine or other accommodation expenses for visitors.
The policy will be in place for the next year, encouraging British holidaymakers to book without fear of COVID-related complications.
It should be noted that travelers returning from Spain are still required to self-isolate for 14 days, as well as sending in contact info and details of their journey through an online form.
Other countries, like Portugal, have adopted COVID-specific travel insurance to give travelers peace of mind as travel slowly picks up again. Keep an eye out for similar deals as tourist centers make an effort to draw in more visitors.
