It's no secret that Italy has been one of the worst hit countries during this pandemic and with tourism being one of their main economic incomings, they are coming up with ideas on how to entice people to visit once this is all over and it is safe to travel again.
The beautiful island of Sicily is located off the south west coast of Italy and is home to a whole host of amazing beaches and attractions. Due to loss of earnings, the island has come up with some ideas on how to boost its travel industry when we see the back of this pesky virus.
As well as paying up to half of your flight costs, for every three nights you stay at a hotel, they will cover one of them, along with museum and archeological entry tickets. The island is investing about 50 million Euro into the scheme.
What is there to do in Sicily? The answer... plenty. Home to the famous Mount Etna - the largest volcano in Europe, its great for nature lovers and hikers. If that seems like a little too much during your holiday there are beaches galore on the island as well as oodles of food tours you can embark on.
More info can be found on the island's tourism website here. Discounts will be provided in the form of vouchers and will be made available on the island's tourism website. We understand that you may feel hesitant about visiting Italy after this, however, this scheme will only be brought out when officials deem it safe to travel.
