Pirates, swimming pools are now being made to be more and more outrageous and picturesque. We see some suspended between two buildings, overlooking the sea, on the roofs of skyscrapers in metropolises, in the gardens of wealthy individuals and some gorgeous pools in luxurious hotels!
For a hotel they are often the flagship and pride of the resort, the bigger they are, the more they attract the attention of curious swimmers!
But of course, there will be one that is the biggest of all ... Have you ever wondered what it is and where it is?
Today we reveal it to you!
We are talking about the San Alfonso del Mar. A private resort in Algarrobo, Chile, about 100km west of Santiago. The resort has the largest swimming pool in the world. At the time of its completion in 2006, after an expense to build the pool alone of approximately two billion US dollars, it entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest pool in the world by area.
The pool is 1,013m long , covers 8 hectares and holds approximately 250 million liters of seawater, with a maximum depth of 3.5m. The water is pumped from the adjacent Pacific Ocean , then filtered and treated. Access to the pool is restricted to resort residents only.
