New Years Eve (NYE) is the one time a year you can celebrate the previous years achievements and look forward to the following years challenges and plans! We have decided to prepare a short article on what you can do this NYE if you have not already set your plans in to motion, giving you a bit of inspiration and ideas for your local city.
The Capital always has a spectacular affair when it comes to NYE they really do put on a wonderful fireworks display and whilst the majority of tickets would have probably sold out you can often see the fireworks from many locations. If you head over to Canon Street you can watch the entire display, expect plenty of crowds as this hot spot is well known and people get there early, the train station at St Pauls and Monument will be extremely busy. Other areas where you can catch the display outside the ticketing zone is The Millennium Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Tower Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge which all provide great viewing points however, remember they do get quite crowded so head out early if you want a good spot to watch the fireworks.
The best solution to getting around London on New Years Eve and New Years Day is to use public transport, the streets tend to get clogged up and many roads will be closed or on diversion. Transport for London will be providing free travel between 23.45 (31/12/2015) and 04.30 (01/01/2016) so you can head back home without fiddling with the ticketing machines. It is highly recommended you take as little as possible with you, the trains and buses tend to get packed making it very uncomfortable if you have things with you.
A lot of the hotels within the Capital might have already sold out for New Years Eve however, if you have still not managed to pick up a hotel yet we recommend you check out our hotel comparison tool, it will dig out the cheapest hotels that are available and it will give you a chance to cross compare suppliers. Additionally if you set the searches to the whole of London you will get results which might be a little bit out but may save you some money if you are are willing to commute into the City.

Start your day with the Big Brunch in the city, celebrated in Temple Bar’s Meeting House Square, where there will be balloon modelling, face painting and a number of stalls that provide various foods. Then things will kick-off with the city’s Countdown Concert riddled with musical acts to keep things cheerful, before the Procession of Light which is a torch-lit procession’ consisting of performances by illuminated torch bearers, towering stilt walkers, floats, fire breathers and dancers, makes its way lighting up the whole city. Fireworks will be displayed simultaneously from the top of the big hotels casting amazing reflections over Dublin’s city architecture. For the best view of the fireworks you should head to St Stephen’s Green (the streets that surround the green will be closed off to make it easier to access to all the festivities).

”Madchester” is even crazier than usual on New Year’s Eve. This year there will be a spectacular fireworks show which will take place in either Albert Square or Piccadilly Gardens. However, if you are planning to go with the kids, they will also want to see the Snow White pantomime over at the Opera House. They will be so exhausted afterwards (fingers crossed!), that you will have plenty of time to get a few drinks in the Horse and Jockey, one of the most famous pubs in the city. But, if you’d prefer to stay outside, there are plenty of live music venues and street food festivals like the one in the Great Northern Warehouse. And if you still have some power left the next morning, you could go for a stroll to Dunham Massey or Tatton Park and enjoy the wonderful views.
