Meanwhile, there has been a first step in this direction, with a reopening of hotels and resorts in the name of caution and safety for guests, and with a series of discounts to encourage new arrivals, as soon as the borders reopen.

INCENTIVES AND DISCOUNTS

In anticipation of the return of international tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board has announced that the entry visa for Luxor and Aswan airports will be discounted by $10 for the months of June, July and August.

In addition, all archaeological sites and museums will enjoy a 50% discount on the entrance ticket.

HOTELS AND RESORTS

The local Ministry of Tourism has established a series of guidelines which accommodation facilities will have to comply with in order to obtain clearance for opening. The same opening foresees a certain gradualness: a first group of hotels has already opened on May 15th, with occupation reduced to 25%, which can be increased to 50% starting from June.

To open, the hotels will have to pass an inspection by the hotel association, which allows them to obtain a one-year security certificate. Among the most important obligations, in addition to checking the water tanks, there is the presence in each hotel of a resident doctor, able to coordinate with the Ministry of Health, to guarantee the quality of the personal protective equipment used by the staff. and by guests.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

  • Each room can accommodate a maximum of two adults, or two adults and a child in the family room
  • Personal protective equipment must be provided to both employees and guests
  • Lifts can be used at a maximum of 50% of the capacity
  • Good ventilation must be guaranteed in all areas
  • Valet parking is prohibited
  • Casinos can accommodate a maximum of 50% of the total guest capacity with the use of all personal protective equipment
  • It is necessary to set up an area specifically dedicated to the quarantine of suspected cases

HOSPITALITY

  • Check in must be done electronically or with disposable pens
  • The baggage must be sterilised before checking in and checking out from the hotel
  • The temperature will be measured at each entrance to public areas
  • The disinfectant must be present in the reception
  • The common areas must be cleaned frequently and there must be a particularly careful management of people suffering from chronic diseases or over the age of 65

CONDITIONS OF THE WORKERS

  • Use a maximum of 50% of the workforce, at which body temperature will be measured daily
  • Staff returning from vacation will be quarantined for 14 days before starting
  • The Egyptian Tourism Federation and the Egyptian Hotel Association are responsible for providing rapid tests to detect the virus to hotels, which bear the cost
  • Separate accommodation is provided for hotel employees and not crowded
  • Older workers or those suffering from chronic diseases should not be employed in jobs that require direct contact with guests

FOOD

  • Buffet service is prohibited in restaurants
  • Hookah is prohibited
  • Guests should measure the temperature
  • The distance between the dining tables is not less than 2 metres and 1 metre between one person and another at the table
  • Large tables for families will not exceed 6 chairs
  • As far as possible, disposable cutlery should be used
  • Each table must be equipped with sterilisers and disinfectant wipes

SWIMMING POOLS AND BEACHES

  • The constant disinfection of swimming pools with the use of the maximum concentration of chlorine (5mg / l) and bromine (10 mg / l), capable of neutralising the virus, is mandatory
  • The area around the beach and swimming pool must be cleaned, including tables, deck chairs, sun beds used by each guest before and after the end of use
  • There must be at least 2 metres between one bed and the other, and beach towels will be placed in the rooms to reduce contact between people
  • Recreational activities on beaches and pools will be kept to a minimum

GYMS AND SPA

  • The surfaces should be cleaned every hour, completely disinfect the gym area after being used, including the bathrooms, used separation devices for the showers
  • The use of whirlpools, saunas, steam and massages is prohibited
  • Visitors outside the hotel are not allowed

CLEANING AND LAUNDRY

  • The rooms must be cleaned daily following the instructions of the Ministry of Health, as well as frequently cleaned and sterilised surfaces, such as common areas and public bathrooms, every hour
  • Complete cleaning of the rooms after the departure of the guests must be carried out and furniture and fabrics must be disinfected with a steam machine
  • Dirty clothes and swimming pool towels should be washed at a high temperature
  • Bed linen should not be changed on a daily basis and you should rely more on self-service laundries
  • Finally, the orders of the ministries of health and the environment regarding the safe disposal of waste must be followed

DIVING AND ACTIVITIES

  • The equipment - regulator, jacket, mask and snorkel, diving suit - must be sterilised by immersing it in a bleach (chlorine) solution at a concentration of 10%
  • It is necessary to ensure the cleanliness of surfaces and areas such as bathrooms, door handles, seats
  • Restrictions must be imposed on the number of passengers on board
  • During the trip, the equipment must not be shared for any reason
  • It is necessary to have antipyretic on board the boat and at the starting point and also measure the temperature of the passengers
  • A list of excursion participants and operators must be provided

SUPERVISION AND CONTROL

  • The manager of the structure signs a declaration in which he undertakes to respect the rules and conditions for the authorisation of operations
  • An own register of the procedures and measures that have been implemented must be created
  • It is mandatory to report any suspicious cases, both of employees and guests
  • In the event of violation of the rules and regulations, the hotel manager's license will be revoked and the property's activity will be suspended
