With all the bad news floating around Pirates, we thought we'd bring you the best of the good news stories of the last few weeks... because in these bleak times we all need some positive-ness to cling on to. So get your positive Pirate pants on and let s go!!
Dolphins spotted in the canals of Venice:
Due to the lack of traffic and pollution caused by tourism and cruises, nature has returned to the Venetian waterways. The water has cleared to such a degree that you can see the fish swimming around. Or as this video demonstrates, even the dolphins have reclaimed the Italian coast.
The best of humanity:
The internet has been full of images of people hoarding pasta, rice, water and - above all - toilet paper. Meaning there are less for those in need. However, there are the every day heros out there willing to help those less fortunate. Heros like Zahid Iqbal, a shop owner in Edinburgh who is creating 'Corona survival kits', containing toilet paper and hand sanitiser, and handing them out for free to the elderly and those in need.
People coming together in times of isolation:
Italy have been hit with lockdowns and isolation for days - if not weeks - now, yet that wont curb their spirit. Videos have been taking over the internet of neighbours playing music for each other to enjoy. What a great example of human camaraderie!
Our beloved NHS workers:
We all know that the NHS is the backbone of our society and what better way to show our appreciation than freebies? During this tie of uncertainty there are one group of people that are helping us out more than any others. There are a number of outlets that are offering free hot drinks and heavily discounted food/ meals.
Respect your elders:
Even though many people believe in panic buying during this time, many superstores are allowing special opening hours for the more vulnerable percentage of our population. Iceland are swinging open their doors early for the elderly to do their shopping in peace and many other big chains are following suit. Individuals are also opting to do their neighbour's shopping for them out of the goodness of their hearts.
Reclaiming what was theirs:
As well as dolphins in the canals of Venice, there have also been reports of animals venturing into more built up areas thanks to the lack of humans around, like these deer on the streets of Japan.
Breathe in that fresh air:
Air pollution worldwide has dropped significantly due to the lack of air travel. Many are saying that air toxin levels are the lowest they have been in over a decade - and that's just with a few weeks of lowered air traffic!
Home office with your bestie:
We all love working from home and those that can have been sharing pics of them and their fur baby co-workers across the net to keep sprit is high. To be honest - we'd trade Carol in accounts for Fluffy, Head of Blep any day!
