Pirates, we can surely all agree that the Maldives are a slice of heaven on Earth.
But on a bleak, rainy day in Blighty, right now we are particularly obsessed with this resort. The tranquil villas, cerulean waters and white beaches have Soneva Jani Resort stealing the top spot as the most idyllic resort on the whole planet.
Not convinced? Read on...
The plush 5* resort is surrounded by almost 5km of private Medhufaru lagoon in Nanu Atoll. You can fly straight to the resort in just 40 minutes from Male airport. Alternatively, you can reach it by speedboat or even a half-day cruise. Either way, expect it to be one of the most picturesque journeys in a lifetime.
There are 24 sea bungalows to choose from, which are only accessible by boat. For those without strong sea legs, guests who prefer land are equally as spoilt: they can also stay in one of the 33 decked out beach houses.
And if you've got a spare couple of quid lying around, some of the houses are available to buy!
(Just a small investment, obvs.)
Each villa allows free access into the lush lagoon, a private pool and an open roof for admiring the stars straight from the bedroom! For the kids (and the big kids!) among you, certain villas also come with a slide going straight to the lagoon.
As for the interiors of the villas, these are just as swanky as you'd expect; furnishings are made from ecological materials, and the bedrooms are generously spacious. Each room provides another breathtaking view of the surrounding waters, with an Instagram-worthy snap at every corner.
If lounging around enjoying the scenery in decadence isn't your holiday style, the resort offers a host of amenities to keep guests entertained. It has a club, tennis court, diving school, a library and water sport facilities - so even the most antsy, adrenaline-loving guests can get their fix!
But one of the most intriguing facilities offered by the resort is the water cinema under the stars. Guests receive wireless headphones - so they do not disturb the nature around them - and cuddle up to a classic in the lap of luxury.
That's not all for quirky experiences. When night falls across the resort, guests can also visit the observatory on the water to learn more about the stunning stars above the Maldives by an in-house astronomer.
We're getting starry eyed just thinking about it.
