These countries have banned incoming travel from the UK over new COVID strain

From this weekend a third of the UK were plunged into the new Tier 4 restrictions, banning travel in between areas affected. This is all because of a newly discovered strain of the virus that is proving to be much more contagious than the original.


In response to this latest discovery, a number of countries have implemented flight bans, from the UK, entering their territories. These countries include (correct as of 8am GMT, 22/12/2020):

  • The Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Oman
  • Portugal
  • Russia

France have also suspended all travel links, including freight lorries, with the UK for 48 hours from midnight on Sunday. All ferries have been suspended until further notice.
