Flying... gosh we miss it so much. Even though the food isn't the best, the person in front of you reclines their seat without asking and the queues for the toilets are long... we still miss it. However, what is the longest flight you've ever done? 12 hours? 13? MORE? Well... how about 15 hours or longer? Here are the top 5 longest direct flights in the world...
5. LAX - SIN
Let's start off light, only a 14,114km trip...nice and easy! This flight with Singapore airlines can take any time from 15 - 17 hours depending on the weather and wind direction. It'll take a number of on board G&Ts and bucket loads of in flight movies to make this flight go past. You can find these flights for around £550 - £600 return.
4. AKL - DXB
Next up, we're heading from New Zealand to Dubai. At 14,200km, it's only 86km longer than no. 5 and takes around 17 - 17.5 hours. Even with Emirates top quality comfort... we still reckon a stop over to stretch our legs would be more preferable! Surprisingly though, direct is actually cheaper than indirect around the £700 - £800 mark.
3. LHR - PER
That's right Pirates, since early 2018 you can actually fly directly from Australia to the UK! With Qantas, this flight can take around 17.5 hours and covers 14,500km! This flight was huge news after it's maiden journey... tales of people having to do yoga in the aisles to stretch out!
2. AKL - DOH
Heading back to Auckland, flying from the New Zealand city to Doha in Qatar can take up to 18.5 hours! Ouch! Covering around 14,535km, this epic flight is with Qatar airlines and although meals and drinks are provided... that is still a long time to spend binging Netflix on the iPad!
These flights don't come cheap - we could find them around the £1400 mark.
1. JFK - SIN
And finally, we reach the longest flight that is currently in service. New York to Singapore! Covering 15,350km, this incredible journey will take around 18hrs to 18 hrs 45mins! A title that has been taken by Singapore Airlines. This is a new entry on this list as it first flew only a few months ago! This flight can be snapped up for around £900 return
Would you ever fly this long on a direct flight? Have you flown any of these routes? What is the longest flight you've ever taken and how did you pass the time? We'd love to hear about it in the comments below
