Mateys, if the cold winter is getting you down and you've been dreaming of escaping to warmer climates, then we've found great flights for a two-month adventure to Thailand. For £447, you'll fly from London to Bangkok and back, heading out at the beginning of March and returning mid-May 2024, giving you two and a half months to do a round trip around all the best spots of Thailand (and beyond!)

While April is the start to the rainy season, that means fewer tourists and plenty of sunshine still! Temperatures will be around 30C and the rain showers usually hit in the afternoon for a couple of hours, and it certainly won't ruin the fun! Also, Thai New Year (or Songkran), which is basically a huge water fight, is on 13 April every year, so you'll be able to get involved!

Pirate tip 🏴‍☠️: The East coast of Thailand sees their wet season from September through December (unlike the West coast), so for tropical paradise without the rain, opt for Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Koh Samui over Phuket, the Phi Phi Islands & Koh Lanta etc.

We've put together some great value flight and Bangkok accommodation options, to get you started with your epic trip.

Flights: options

First option (budget backpacker):

Example dates: 03 March - 19 May, 2024

You will have a stop in China each way, but direct flights are about £250 more at this time of year... so we think it's definitely worth it (just imagine how many pad thais you can have with that saving!)

Second option (flashpacker):

I get it... time is money! So, here's the cheapest direct option we could find:

Example dates: 05 March - 17 May, 2024

Internal flight:

Internal flights from Singapore to Bangkok are well-priced, so if you want to go South from Thailand, you can easily get back to Bangkok before your flight home.

Example date: 15 May, 2024

Accommodation options for Bangkok:

There are some brilliant options for solo travellers on a budget.

It's your first night in Bangkok - start it with a bang at this hostel for £6 a night (that's less than two Co-op meal deals!)

Example date: 05 March, 2024

If you're more of a flashpacker, check out this 4-star hotel instead. You'll be excited to jump in that pool after exploring Bangkok!

Example date: 05 March, 2024

Other Options

Routes:

There are many routes you could take with two and a half months in South East Asia.

A classic on the backpacker trail, Thailand is a beautifully diverse country with beaches, forest, busy cities... you name it. There's plenty to explore in the North and South of the country if you want to stick to just Thailand.

However, the tried-and-tested backpacker circuit is well-loved for a reason, and we'd suggest also hopping over to Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia before coming full circle back to Bangkok to fly home.

Alternatively, we'd suggest exploring the North of Thailand from Bangkok and then heading South through the islands, going down through Malaysia until you hit Singapore (end your trip in luxury!) and then getting a cheap flight from Singapore to Bangkok (this way you can see my favouirte airport - Singapore Changi!)

⚠️ Remember to get a special re-entry visa if you're leaving Thailand and coming back in again (even if you don't exhaust the 30 days you get free on single entry!)

Don't feel comfortable going by yourself?

Start your trip with a group tour, so you can get your bearings!

G Adventures' Thailand Adventure: Bangkok, Chiang Mai & Street Food Crawls is a great place to start and it's 25% off right now!

... or their Southern Thailand Sojourn: Nightlife & National Parks trip sounds good too, as it focuses on the Eastern islands. This one is also currently 25% off and you get to stay in a floating bungalow in Koh Sok National Park!

Or even do a tour of the entire country with TruTravels' Total Thailand, which is a whopping 42% off right now:

Additional Information

We might be Pirates, but we’re an honest bunch. We check all our deals when we review them to make sure everything is available. Here’s the catch: with deals this hot, things change quickly: flight prices fluctuate, hotel rooms sell out, currencies yo-yo. Mainly, demand for the best deals means the lowest prices don’t last long. But, if you’ve missed out this time, don’t worry: we’re working on more great offers.
