France to BAN short-haul flights

It may start on the 1st of April but it's no joke, France is banning short-haul flights on routes where the journey can be done by rail in 2.5 hours.

The law was voted on and decided around a year ago and comes into force tomorrow. France has a goal to lower carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and in an attempt to reach that is cutting what can be seen as unnecessary short flights.

The ban only affects domestic routes and so flights between France and the UK will not be affected.

Some routes within France will continure to operate such as Paris to Toulouse and Paris to Nice as they take longer than the 2 and a half hour time limit when travelling by train.

Routes such as Paris Charles de Gaulle to Lyon will be made exceptions to the ban as they are cities that provide connections to international flights.
