With everyone feeling the pinch when it comes to costs of living, we wanted to know where in the world you can travel to - and spend the least money while you're there! Well, for 2024, the results are in. Most of us could hazard a guess that you can travel quite cheaply in South East Asia, but you may be surprised to see some of the other budget-saving winning destinations. Wethrift, the US platform for finding discounts and cheap deals, wanted to find the ultimate list of the most affordable travel destinations for 2024. To come up with the winners, a range of normal holiday expenses were compared, including transport, tourist attraction fees, average prices of accommodation and meals. Keep in mind that flights or short-/long-haul travel options were not included, as these costs would differ greatly depending on your country of departure.

Here are all the criteria:

Admission fees for attractions
Accommodation: average prices for hotels, guesthouses and Airbnb
Food: the prices of groceries and restaurant meals
Number of direct flights available
