The more affordable Italy escape with cheap and easy links to Milan, Como and Garda 🚂
from £98
Pirates, you have to go to Bergamo, and here's why. The town is filled with historical buildings and beautiful architecture like the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore. You'll be spoilt for choice with authentic Italian cuisine. Oh, and it's cheap.
It also has its own airport that Ryanair operates to with cheap flights from the UK. This is often where Milan flights fly into, as it's cheaper than Milan Malpensa Airport.
Hotels are also significantly cheaper here than in Milan. We priced up a 2-night break with flights for £98* per person, or 3 nights from £144.
The hotel we picked is only a 10-minute walk to the train station, where you have cheap (around £4-7 one-way) and frequent trains to Milan, Lake Como, Lake Garda and more, so it's a great affordable base for exploring pricier places in Italy.

*We might be Pirates, but we’re an honest bunch. We check all our deals when we review them to make sure everything is available. Here’s the catch: with deals this hot, things change quickly. Flight prices fluctuate, hotel rooms sell out, currencies yo-yo. Mainly, demand for the best deals means the lowest prices don’t last long. But, if you’ve missed out this time, don’t worry: we’re working on more great offers.
