Cheap hotel = more money for what really matters (deep-fried Mars bars, obvs 🍫)
From £25 per night
Winter is a pretty decent time to visit the capital of the Scots if you want to save some cash. Is it cold? You bet. But it's also when hotels are dropping prices to attract people to the city. Plus, money saved on accommodation, means more money to have fun.
The cheapest rates we've found are for the Travelodge Edinburgh Haymarket. Prices start at £25 per night – that's the absolute lowest and only valid on 5 February. But there are many other dates for £40 per night or less in January, February and early March.
At that price, don't expect The Ritz, just a decent budget hotel with a Tripadvisor rating of 3.5 out of 5. The location is pretty good too: about 15 minutes' walk to the National Galleries of Scotland: Modern One, and 20 minutes from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle using public transport.
Hotel: Travelodge Edinburgh Haymarket
Rate plan: room only
Available via Trivago
There are many more dates for £40 or less in January–March. The easiest way to visualise them is to use the 'overview' tab in Trivago:
We might be Pirates, but we’re an honest bunch. We check all our deals when we review them to make sure everything is available. But here’s the catch: with deals this hot, things change quickly. Flight prices fluctuate, hotel rooms sell out, currencies yo-yo. But mainly, demand for the best deals means the lowest prices don’t last long. But, if you’ve missed out this time, don’t worry: we’re working on more great offers.
