Want to know more about Ireland?Check out our pirate guide!Pirates, we often write about the craziest, whackiest or weirdest places to stay around the world: but what about those cosy, traditional places that never go out of style?
This Irish thatched cottage in County Longford is the only one of its kind available for hire in the county, made using centuries-old techniques from mud and straw and with traditional Irish furnishings to boot. It's a very reasonable, £170* to stay here over a weekend in the summer, a price that doesn't change all year round, making it just £85* per person for an authentic old Irish experience!
Location-wise, it's two hours from the nearest airport (Dublin is likely the easiest), but being in central Ireland means you have easy access to three provinces and heaps of authentic Irish experiences: luxury castles, abbey ruins, Bruse Mountain hikes and the 5,000-year-old Aughnacliffe Portal Tombs.
