You’re staying in Spain, so you’ll need Euros, but you’re only a 10-minute walk from the border of Gibraltar, where they use the Gibraltar Pound. Most places in "Gib" take card, but keep an eye on those exchange rates.
The border crossing: Since the UK left the EU, the border can occasionally have a bit of a queue. Don't forget your passport: you’ll need it every time you walk from your floating home into Gibraltar.
If you head up the Rock, you’ll meet the famous Barbary macaques, the only wild monkeys in Europe. Just a heads up: keep your snacks hidden as they are world class pickpockets.
Duty-free heaven: Gibraltar is famous for VAT-free shopping. If you’re after perfume, electronics, or spirits, wait until you’ve walked across the border to grab a bargain.
Fly into Gibraltar Airport. It is one of the coolest arrivals in the world: you actually have to walk across the airport runway to get into town. From the airport, it’s a flat 15 minute walk across the border to the harbour.
Or, fly into Malaga. It’s usually cheaper and has more flight times from the UK. Grab a hire car or a bus and you’ll be at the harbour in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Pirate Tip: If you fly into Malaga and drive, don't bother taking the car into Gibraltar. Parking is a nightmare and the queues can be long, so just leave the car at the harbour and walk across.
