Hidden gem alert 💎 This fairytale Xmas market should be on your festive travel bucket list

We know many of you can’t resist a good Christmas market getaway (or two!), and if you’ve already ticked off the big German favourites, here's a gem that feels a little more under-the-radar.

Say hello to Regensburg in Bavaria. The city hosts six Christmas markets, including one set in a castle courtyard. They run from 24 November to 23 December.

Where to stay? We’ve spotted some cracking rates at the Premier Inn Regensburg City Centre – just a 20-minute stroll from the castle market and the others. Prices start from £44 a night during peak festive season, which works out at £22 per person. Try finding that in London, Manchester or Birmingham when their markets are on…

Getting there: Look for flights into Munich or Nuremberg. From any of those airports, it’s an easy train ride to Regensburg (takes around 1-1.5 hours) – and then it’s all mulled wine and twinkly lights from there.
