Ahoy Pirates,

Whose dreamt of kicking back on their very own tropical island? It is something that we find ourselves daydreaming about most days here at Pirates HQ, especially during these lockdowns without travel!

But that is something just for dreams and not something the majority of us could ever experience, right? That is what we thought too until we stumbled across this private island in the Philippines. This is the perfect spot for the ultimate relaxing break away from it all and best of all, it can be easily booked for a reasonable price on Airbnb.

Details

Brother Island, also known as Robinson Crusoe Island, is not far from the city of El Nido on the island of Palawan. The accommodation can sleep up to 16 guests, the minimum number of guests, however, is only 4 so you can choose, a party holiday with your mates or a calm family getaway.

You won’t be completely alone on the island but that has its benefits, as you will be receiving a full-board experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be freshly-prepared for you daily and there is also a cleaning service. If you fancy a drink, then head to the bar, which offers a selection of beers, wines and spirits. Unfortunately, alcoholic drinks aren’t included in the price but don’t worry the Philippines is a pretty affordable part of the world. Along with the staff, the owner of the island also lives there.

Activities: discover an underwater world teeming with marine life while snorkelling in the turquoise waters off the island. Those who fancy it can also go further out to sea and book a snorkel tour, go fishing or enjoy a massage on the beach. The price for these activities is around 700 Philippine pesos (around £10) per person.

The house itself is traditionally decorated, has 7 bedrooms, two bathrooms, two WCs as well as additional showers. But that isn’t that important, because you probably won’t be spending too much time indoor when you’re on a tropical island!

Getting there: transfers are included in the price, either from the local airport or from the centre of El Nido.

Price: staying here costs $100 (about £70) per person per night. There is a minimum of a two-night stay and 4 guests.
