Fully vaxxed travellers can now use cheaper lateral flow tests
The government has announced that from today, 24 October, travellers returning to England can now use cheaper lateral flow tests in place of more expensive PCR tests.
Fully vaccinated travellers arriving from non-Red List countries can now take a lateral flow test, instead of PCR, as their day 2 test when arriving in England.
Tha change offers a "huge boost to the travel industry", according to the health secretary, Sajid Javid, and "will make it easier and cheaper for people to book holidays and travel abroad."
Free NHS tests cannot be used and travellers must purchase a test privately from an approved list and range in price from £19-£39 per person (PCR tests range from £40-£69).
