Yes, you read the headline correctly, Disney are building a residential community where you can actually LIVE. Though, we must warn you that Mickey Mouse won't be your doorman, so calm down slightly.

Built in California initially, Disney actually has plans to create "storyliving" communities across the United States to allow everyone to have a chance to enjoy the "Disney experience".

The first new neighbourhood being built by Disney, Cotino, will be in Palm Springs, which is actually a place where Walt Disney himself owned a home.

The large development is set to cover a range of homes, with everything from estates to single family homes and even includes a section for residents 55 and over, otherwise known as the young at heart.

The residence is planned to centre around a “grand oasis featuring clear turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons® technology”. We've no idea what technology that is, we just instantly know we want it.

And you may be surprised to learn that this isn't Disney's first foray into home building. The media empire has already got a community near the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Disney is also thinking big picture about this, with plans to create a waterfront clubhouse, a club-only beach area and host recreational water activities. Meanwhile, on dry land, residents can also enjoy wellness activities, entertainment ranging from live performances to cooking classes, philanthropic endeavours and seminars. There will also be a town centre, with open markets, restaurants and artisan shops.

As Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro says in a statement. "We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest."
