Pirates, you will no doubt have heard of the film House of Gucci, Ridley Scott's latest flick that tells the story of the Gucci family.

The film, with a stellar cast (Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek), has just been released in the USA and will arrive in the UK today!

But the crazy thing is that thanks to Airbnb, you can have a chance to spend a fabulous night in one of the film's most evocative locations, an incredible 16th-Century villa overlooking Lake Como.

We explain everything below!

Details

In the film, the villa in question is the home of Aldo Gucci, played by Al Pacino, and used as the backdrop to scenes of a sumptuous party.

Lying on a shore of Lake Como, Villa Balbiano is truly a jewel, belonging to Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who built it at the end of the 16th-Century and used it as his main residence. A century later it was enlarged and embellished by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, who used the villa to host extravagant and wild society parties, banquets and balls almost non-stop.

Today, Villa Balbiano is one of the largest private residences on the lake, with a large and lavish garden, awarded a prize by the British Society of Garden Designers, and keen eyed viewers will recognise in the film. An outdoor swimming pool, private pier and dock also add to the luxury factor.

Inside, its historic interiors are filled with valuable art, rare objects and furniture from Sotheby's and Christie's. Spectacular 17th-Century frescoes still decorate the walls. With its illustrious past and extraordinary beauty, spending a night at Villa Balbiano is sure to be unforgettable for guests.

However, Airbnb is offering just one night in the villa's most beautiful suite, the Master Suite, designed by Jacques Garcia, one of the world's greatest interior designers. There is only one stay available for two people, for the night of 30 March 2022.

Bookings open at 5pm (GMT) on 6 December 2021, but only the fastest will be able to book!

Reservation costs a hefty £840, but that's still a fraction of what you'd really spend in this dream location: the property is owned by a Russian holding company, which only rents it out for very exclusive receptions and holidays, and rumours suggest it's around £12,500 a night.
