Heritage Open Days returns with over 5000 events costing the princely sum of £0
Over 5000 free events across England between 8–17 September. Can't do better than this, really.
Heritage Open Days is an annual event that lets you see historic and cultural places without spending a penny apart from getting there. And if you don't want to spend any money travelling, virtual events are available too.
Participating venues include places not usually open to the public, National Trust sites and more.
And if you're tight on leave days, many of these events are also available at the weekend.

But honestly, there are too many events to do Heritage Open Days justice, so have a look for yourself. For some events, you'll need to book a place first (still free, though).
