International travel is now simpler & cheaper for full vaxxed
In more good news for holidaymakers, from today (4am 4 October 2021), a new simplified travel system takes off making it both easier and cheaper for fully vaccinated travellers.
So what's changed?
No more green or amber list - there is now only the Red List and Rest of World
Testing before flying to UK has been scrapped for fully vaccinated - just a PCR test on or before day 2 after arriving in the UK
Later in October
Travellers will no longer be required to take a PCR test on day two of their arrival in England as this will be replaced with a cheaper lateral flow/antigen test. If the test is positive, they will need to isolate and take a confirmatory PCR test
Arriving from a Red List country remains the same with mandatory 10-day hotel quarantine with the cost met by the traveler (£2,285pp).
People who are not fully vaccinated will still need a pre-departure test and a PCR test on days two and eight after they return, and will have to self-isolate for 10 days at home.
