✨ There's a spectacular light show mimicking the Aurora Borealis this December 🌈
Pirates, a spectacular lights show, mimicking the Northern Lights, will illuminate the skies over the capital in December. The 'Borealis' Festival happens at Guildhall Yard in the City of London from 11-22 December — and it's FREE to view (you need to pre-book tickets). Advance tickets have sold out, but there are walk-up tickets available on the day.
For booking enquiries please email [email protected] or call 07899 893 935 (Box Office telephone available from 1 December).
Scroll down for some hotel recommendations if you want to stay over to visit the festival. We've found cheap rates from around £100 even on weekends (much cheaper on weekdays).

The the festival is art work produced by Dan Acher. The free-to-view installation has multicoloured lights, mimicking the movement of the natural Aurora Borealis phenomenon.
This event is hugely popular on Instagram. You can grab colourful selfies -- photos look amazing with all the colours surrounding you.

Acher’s work uses beams of light travelling through particle clouds to create the illusion, and there's also a matching soundtrack!
If you're looking to visit London to stay nearby, the cheapest we've found are stays at the Travelodge City Street. Even on the weekends, rates were just around £100, compared to other hotels from £200 and more in the area.
