Pirates, if you're looking for a very special staycation, check out this lighthouse on the Norfolk coast. The converted 18th-century building has a bed at the top with 360-degree views -- imagine waking up to the sound of the waves and the view of beach and water for miles.

The building is incredibly rich in history -- it's mentioned in Defoe's Robinson Crusoe and it served as a lookout tower during the war. It's been transformed to a lovely home and has even featured on Channel 4's 'Homes by the Sea'.

Renting the entire place isn't cheap, rates start at £566 per night with a minimum 3-night stay. The lighthouse sleeps up to 8 people.

About your stay

The lighthouse tower has been converted to house the sleeping accommodation, whilst the main living space has been created in the Garden Room at ground level. There is a wood-burning stove in the dining area and folding doors open onto the cedar terrace and garden.

The third floor was originally the lighthouse keeper's equipment room, and has been converted into the library where curved bookshelves line the walls.

The Lantern Room at the top of the tower has a wrap-around seating area with panoramic views of the Norfolk countryside, the sandy beach and the North Sea beyond. From here, stairs lead up to a sleeping platform (with a double bed), which also has 360-degree views.

There is one bathroom and one shower room, both of which are situated on the ground floor, and some of the stairs are very steep, so the lighthouse is not suitable for those with mobility issues or very young children.

There's a minimum of 3 nights if you want to stay, it's a minimum of 7 nights during school holidays and half term.
