Visit the place he became 'The boy who lived'
Pirates, we've found a very special place, that all wannabe witches and wizards should pay pilgrimage to.
Yup, you can actually stay at the childhood home of Harry Potter, as depicted in the movie adaptation. The Godric's Hollow cottage is available to rent on Airbnb, and it's pretty much as magical as we guessed it might be.
The property, De Vere House, is located in the medieval village of Lavenham in Suffolk, and surrounded by hundreds of other historic and protected medieval cottages.
As Potterheads will well know, Godrick's Hollow was the place where Harry Potter encountered Lord Voldemort the first time - but thankfully this house has a less grizzly history. The house was originally a 14th-Century hall house and hunting lodge, owned by the de Vere family - who were extremely wealthy wool traders.
Inside, there are two four-poster bedrooms, with en suite bathrooms. There is a cosy reading room with a log fire and a courtyard garden.
The house also has some unique features, such as a stone spiral staircase and a number of rare medieval paintings
Below is the John de Vere room, one of two rooms available. Check out that four-poster bed!
The imposing oak front door is rich in history, with emblems denoting the De Vere family and their conflict during the Wars of the Roses.
Considering you'd be experiencing Harry Potter heritage first hand, the price isn't too bad either, with an overnight stay costing just under £100 per person per night (requires a 2-night minimum stay), based on two sharing. Plus, you'll get a proper full English breakfast (veggie options also available).
Go until April, when prices are stable at £374 for 2 nights, from May prices rise to £421.
