Massive changes for travellers in England
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced sweeping changes to travel in England today.
From Monday 4 October:
Traffic Light system abolished with every country to be either Red or Rest of World (former green and amber list combined)
Almost all current amber-list countries will be added to the Rest of World list
people who are fully vaccinated will not need a pre-departure test before arrival into England from a Rest of World country
Testing for unvaccinated passengers from Rest of World countries will include pre-departure tests, day 2 and day 8 PCR tests
Later in October:
Fully vaccinated people will be able to replace the day two PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow test
In additional news, eight countries are coming off the Red List from Wednesday 22 September at 4am: Turkey, Pakistan, the Maldives, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh and Kenya.
