Guimaraes is often called the "birthplace" of Portugal, which we guess means it's stuffed with history and heritage: perfect for those on a city break.

The hotel is located right at the heart of the city, walking distance from the UNESCO World Heritage historic centre. The hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants and it's a 10-minute walk from the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza and the 1,000-year-old Guimaraes Castle.

You'll have to fly to Porto to get to Guimaraes, from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) it takes about 40 minutes, and you can get a bus transfer £6-7 or a taxi for around £30.
