Pirates, I recently came back from Cinque Terre, and it was fabulous. I only stayed there for 4 days and let me tell you, it wasn't long enough. Sure, you can easily see all five towns in one day, if you wanted. In our case, we spent two days hiking and touring the towns, however there is so much to do and see (and eat!) that we could have easily stayed a week. A week also ensures that you have time to just chill—take in the sea views from your balcony with a glass of wine; watch the sunset; do nothing. The Italians even have a saying for this, they call it Dolce far niente, or the sweetness of doing nothing.
We paired budget flights with an amazing Airbnb (I would know, I stayed there 😉) to get you and 5 other friends (or family members) a truly bargain holiday in Cinque Terre from £213* per person! This Airbnb is located in Riomaggiore, which after visiting all five towns was our favourite and made for the perfect base to explore the area.
Yes, these dates are out of season. Yes, you might have rain and storms. Are there better months to visit Cinque Terre? Sure, but just be aware that in the summer months, not only is it almost too hot to hike, it's also packed because Cinque Terre is a very touristy place. If you want to save some money and avoid the crowds, then I suggest going in the off-season. Transportation and accommodation will be cheaper, but be sure to stay up to date with the weather in case any sudden storms come in. Of course, during this time you can most-certainly practice Dolce far niente with some world-class views.
