You might think boating would cost you a pretty penny, but in fact, we've found awesome rates, especially if you book during the sale, which includes Easter breaks and selected boats throughout the year.
We spotted a three night barging weekend this March, starting from Hilperton Marina in Wiltshire, which costs £655, with the fuel deposit included. For a group of five, that works out at £131 per person for the entire trip, or £44 per night. Or, if you departed on a Monday, it works out at the same price for four nights. That's £33 per night per person. The 'Bristol and return route' takes in the Kennet and Avon Canal, and is considered one of the very best waterways to discover natural beauty and wildlife.
But with narrowboats across England, Wales and Scotland, you can choose to have your boating adventure wherever takes your fancy. ABC Boat Hire's fleet is also varied, with barges to suit groups between 2–12 people. You'll just have to book in season; between mid-March and the end of October.
