Pirates, check out the absolutely luxe InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, set some 20 miles outside of Shanghai in a former quarry!

It's the worlds first underground hotel with 16 of the 18 floors below surface and two floors underwater!

The underwater levels has suits with fish-tank walls, who needs windows? Most rooms have balconies overlooking the lake from which you can take in the nightly water show the hotel puts on.

Details

The hotel puts on a light show for its guests in the evening. A truly magical spectacular! The former quarry is now filled up with water that makes a lake.

This is one of the underwater suites, which has its own saltwater aquarium.

All rooms have Toto toilets. In the bedrooms you have Baidu's digital assistant (which is like Alexa but in Chinese). You can ask for anything, if you speak Mandarin.

The spa boosts a big swimming pool, treatment rooms, a fitness centre and a sauna.
