Return flights and accommodation in 6 locations exploring the highlights of the country for a crazy price 🤯
From ÂŁ786 pp
Pirates, we've put together a DIY backpacking trip to Guatemala, which includes stops at six different locations exploring ancient cities, volcanic landscapes, rainforests, lakes, and both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of the country.
We've paired good value return flights (flights are usually over ÂŁ600 with longer flight times) with 3 weeks of accommodation and an itinerary to take in some of the highlights of this diverse country, all from ÂŁ786.
Guatemala City - 1–2 nights (depending on flight option)
Most visitors skip Guatemala City, the country's capital, but some of the country's best museum collections are here, plus you have the city’s historic quarter to explore where you can visit the National Palace of Culture and Metropolitan Cathedral.
Rio Dulce river and Livingston - 4 nights
Livingston is a remote, laid back town on the Caribbean coast, only accessible by boat. The boat trip down the Rio Dulce to get there is often described as a highlight. Here you can take day trips to different beaches in the area, enjoy the many pelicans in the harbour, and experience a different culture from the rest of the country.
Lanquin and Semuc Champey - 4 nights
Lanquin is a little mountain town, close to the stunning Semuc Champey national park, which has a series of naturally formed water basins filled with turquoise river water and surrounded by lush jungle vegetation.
Lake Atitlan - 4 nights
A huge, breathtaking lake formed in a volcanic crater, surrounded by three volcanoes and many little villages. You can hike, and explore the different villages and towns by boat, experiencing ancient Mayan traditions and customs.
El Paredon - 4 nights
El Paredon is a chilled out surf beach on the Pacific coat, with volcanic black sand and mangroves.
Antigua - 4 nights
Antigua is often called the most beautiful city in the country, and it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's small and colourful, with colonial architecture and an epic mountainous backdrop. From here it is just a short drive to Guatemala City airport.
This is a DIY deal, so you have to book the flights and accommodation separately. This trip does not include transfers or travel once in the country, so you will have to organise private transfers, buses or car rental.
Please make sure to check up-to-date safety advice before travelling.
ℹ️ We’ve built this trip with flights from London departing in October. The price is for two people sharing a room – so if you travel on your own, it’ll cost more.
And as this is a DIY trip, it’s not ATOL protected – so make sure to have good travel insurance in case something happens.

We might be pirates, but we’re an honest bunch. We check all our deals when we review them to make sure everything is available. However, with deals this hot, things change quickly—flight prices fluctuate, hotel rooms sell out, currencies yo-yo. But mainly, demand for the best deals means the lowest prices don’t last long. If you’ve missed out this time, don’t worry, we’re working on more great offers.
