Let's be honest pirates, taking the whole family on holiday is lovely. Getting there sometimes not so much. Restricting the little ones to one seat on a flight can result in tears and kicks, meaning other passengers (mostly the ones without children) might not be amused.
Corendon Airlines wants to give people a choice. They're testing an adults-only section on the plane!
On flights to the Caribbean, the Turkish-Dutch company Corendon Airlines is to introduce an adults-only section on a trial basis from 3 November. On the route from Amsterdam to Curaçao, 102 of a total of 432 seats will be reserved exclusively for people over 16.
Corendon has segregated the front section of the A350-900, which is in service on this route. Reservations for these seats (93 seats are available) can be made for about £39 extra each way. In addition, nine XL seats with more legroom are available. The surcharge there is £86.
If the test is successful, the concept will be rolled out more widely, says Corendon founder Atilay Uslu, according to aerotelegraph.com.
The new concept does not only have advantages for adults who long for more peace and quiet on the flight. Families could also benefit and stay more relaxed should a child be a bit noisy.
