If budget is a big consideration for you right now (and let's be honest, it is for all of us), then check out this new research outlining the cheapest destinations in Europe for a city break.

Using 12 different criteria, including activities, food and drink, and infrastructure, the price of beer and other factors, Omio has put together a comprehensive list of where to go so your money goes furthest.

And the overall best-value city break destination in Europe? Scroll down for the 10 top including two that are in the UK.

Top 10 budget-friendly city breaks in Europe

1. Granada, Spain

2. Bruges, Belgium

3. Venice, Italy

4. Valencia, Spain

5. Edinburgh, UK

6. Innsbruck, Austria

7. Cambridge, UK

8. Seville, Spain

9. Malaga, Spain

10. Florence, Italy

That's right, Granada in Spain came top in the research where you can enjoy a beer from around €2.19 and grab a 24-hour travel card priced at €1.23.

Best for complimentary sightseeing

If free attractions and museums are the number-one consideration when deciding where to go, then Rome, with 553 attractions and 34 museums for free, is the place for you.

The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and St Peter’s Basilica are all totally free to access.

In second place is London with 95 free museums and 487 free sightseeing attractions. However, it's worth noting that although there are plenty of free museums and sightseeing attractions, with the cost of accommodation and food considerably higher than other cities, the British capital overall has a much lower rating for budget-friendliness.
