New rules for entry to New Zealand

New Zealand has long had some of the strictest restrictions when it comes to COVID-19. However, the country is finally relaxing its restrictions and introducing rules similar to those in Europe.

The rules introduced on 13 September 2022 are as follows:

  • There is no longer a need to present a negative COVID-19 test result or to isolate yourself upon arrival in New Zealand

  • You will receive a free rapid antigen test (RAT) on arrival at the airport. The NZ government encourages you to test on arrival and on day 5 or 6 and to report your test result by calling +64 (0) 800 222 478 and selecting option 3

  • A Traveller Declaration still has to be filled in

  • The wearing of masks in public places will no longer be compulsory

  • A mandatory 7-day isolation for COVID-19 patients remains
