In a bid to kickstart the economy after Covid-19, Thailand has opened up the country and shifted its visa-exemption rules to allow visitors even longer to explore its lush beaches, buzzing cities and sample its buckets of booze by the beach.
This rule applies to 50 countries (including the UK, USA, Australia and Canada).
The new rules come into effect on 1 October 2022, however this is not a permanent rule change and the visa-free extension will end on 31 March 2023 - so plan your trip around this time to take full advantage!
Previously, UK citizens entering Thailand via air and sea were issued a visa exemption of 30 days. Now, you'll get a whopping 45 days - a huge increase that will allow you to explore the country at a slower pace.
If you are in the country, doing a 'visa run' is common among backpackers and involves heading to the nearest land border to Thailand and re-entering to get a new visa length of 30 days. If you want to sort your visa prior to arrival in Thailand, UK citizens can apply for a 60-day tourist visa.
