Which are supposed to be the best airlines in the world, you can find out several times a year in various studies.
The best-known of these comes from Skytrax and is based on surveys of millions of passengers. The same names regularly fight for the top spots: Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Emirates are usually at the top. However, which airlines perform worst is not usually published.
However, Skytrax has a second tool that is not based on customer opinions, but on its own quality check based on over 500 criteria. These include, for example, the seating comfort, the cleanliness of the washrooms, or the language skills of the crew.
In the end, the quality of the airlines is expressed in star categories from 1 to 5. So let's take a look at the lower end: There is currently no 1-star airline, but there are nine airlines that have only received two stars for their service quality.
So they are the worst airlines in the world according to Skytrax.
Airblue, Pakistan
Boliviana de Aviacion, Bolivia
LAM Mozambique Airlines, Mozambique
Nouvelair, Tunisia
Onur Air, Turkey
PIA, Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan
Tunisair, Tunisia
Viva Aerobus, Mexico
Viva Air, Colombia
⚠️ Important: The ranking says nothing about the safety of these airlines.
What about Air Koryo?
The North Korean airline received only one star from Skytrax for several years in a row, making it the worst airline in the world. However, Air Koryo temporarily suspended civil air traffic at the beginning of the corona pandemic and is therefore not currently being evaluated.
