Planning a trip to London and looking for a fun yet unique night out? We've put together a list of some of our favourite bars, each with a unique twist. Read on below to plan a truly extraordinary and unforgettable night out in London Town.
Below, you'll find a list of our recommendations for bars to visit when in London that stand out among the rest in the city.
From the outside it looks like a run-down tailor's shop, but step inside and down into the basement and you'll be greeted by the cosiest, liveliest atmosphere.
The cocktails are truly unique and, speaking from personal experience, some of the best! They're also very reasonably priced.
This bar is just a stone's throw away from Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane.
If you're planning a visit, make sure you book ahead as this place fills up quickly.
Also in Shoreditch, this bar has a secret extra bar at the back, accessible only through a door disguised as a large mirror. You can choose to have a drink in the first bar and indulge in cocktails with a twist at the secret bar.
Using a rotary evaporator or Rotovap, cocktail liquids are heated to a temperature that removes solvents and enhances flavours through evaporation.
This bar hosts many fun and upbeat events such as drag bingo, DJs and lots of great workshops and concerts. Make sure you book your visit ahead of time.
You have to check out this wizard-themed bar located in London's Hackney District. The Cauldron offers a special interactive cocktail "potions" making experience.
Patrons get to dress up as wizards and carry a magic wand that controls the most unexpected objects in the bar.
You can either book the magic potion making experience or just book a few drinks. Either way, you'll see some bubbling, mystical or smoky magical alcoholic creations (or non-alcoholic if you prefer).
They also offer an at-home magical cocktail-making kit that you can purchase online.
You can visit a Cauldron magical-themed bar in London, as well as in Brighton, Edinburgh, New York, Philly, or Chicago.
A sister bar to Discount Suit Company, The Umbrella Workshop is owned and operated by the same company; The Umbrella Project.
Both bars are set in Shoreditch, but what makes the Umbrella Workshop so unique is the fact that only 12 bar guests can be accommodated at one time—making for a small and intimate setting.
The workshop is also the tasting studio for all the cocktails that are sold at the Umbrella Project’s bars, such as The Discount Suit Company. We tried some delicious and unique cocktails like the Kyro Bueno, my personal favourite, which tastes quite similar to, and is a play on words with the Kinder Bueno chocolate bar.
Fancy a trip back in time to 1940s London? Head to Soho, walk through the main doors of an old railway station where you can relax at the ticket office, or descend the stairs to the old Underground to be transported to a land of swing, jazz and phenomenal cocktails.
The bar offers three unique locations; the Ticket Hall, Underground, and Signal Station. We had the honour of being hosted at the Underground.
Browse the menu, which is an old-fashioned newspaper, and enjoy cocktails with an eccentric twist. Our favourites include the Winston Churchill, served in a glass shaped like Winston Churchill, the Vera Lyn, served in a glass shaped like Vera Lyn, and the Keep Marm and Carry On, served in a teacup with biscuits.
They also offer a great selection of delicious snacks. So, don't be afraid to come here hungry. This is another bar you'll want to make sure you book ahead as it's popular with Londoners and tourists, alike.
