Love flying off on holiday? ✈️ Before you even set foot on the plane, there’s plenty you can do to make the most of your trip – and Heathrow is here to help you get straight into holiday mode.
They offer loads of ways to make your travel smoother – from quick and cheap airport transport and Fast Track options to airport lounges and shopping discounts. All bookable in advance online.
We’ve got the inside scoop on Heathrow's best services that will make your next trip from London even more relaxing, and help save you money!
Here are our 6 tips to get you into that holiday mode the second you step out your front door.
Mateys, forget the hassle of traffic jams or lugging your suitcase on the Tube. We're convinced that the easiest way to get from London to Heathrow is the Heathrow Express.
Trains run every 15 minutes and get you from London Paddington to the airport in just 15 minutes* – that’s less than half the time it takes by car or taxi.
Prices start from just £10 a ticket* (just be sure to book your ticket at least 45 days in advance to get the best price), and kids aged 15 and under travel free*.
You’ll get free WiFi, loads of luggage space, and a smooth, comfy ride straight to your terminal. It’s quick, easy and far less stressful than sitting in a cab or bus wondering if you’ll make it in time.
It’s environmentally-friendly, too. So really, it’s a no-brainer.
If you want an easy-breezy start to your holiday, you’re not alone, Pirates. We've got a hot tip for you to help you get into holiday mode even quicker!
Fast Track is like a VIP shortcut of the airport world – so you can get to the departure lounge or your final destination with ease.
Heathrow offers Fast Track products for both departing (security) and arriving (passport control) passengers to make your airport experience even better.
Fast Track for departing flights costs £12.50 per person and for arrivals, prices start from £25. Both can be pre-booked in advance or even on your day of travel.
Loads of us Pirates are big fans of airport lounges. Whether you’re off on holiday or travelling for work, they’re a comfy spot to relax or get some stuff done before take-off 🤓
In the lounge, drinks and snacks are all included (yes, even the bubbly 🥂) and you don’t need a membership to get in – just book in advance and you’re good to go.
Heathrow has airport lounges in Terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Both lounges offer a spacious, peaceful atmosphere, tailored food and drink service, unlimited Wi-Fi and charging facilities, private resting suites, and shower facilities.
We actually visited the brand new No1 Lounge in T2 and honestly, it was super lush 😍 All three of the No1 Lounges feature a fully tended bar serving an extensive range of drinks (we think this alone pays for the pass), complimentary food featuring a British inspired grazing menu, TV Lounges to watch sports games, films or TV shows, as well as a library area if you prefer peace and quiet, plus unlimited Wi-Fi and charging.
The same great taste as the regular No1 Lounges, but with a twist. This one is a luxury adult-only lounge that offers table service, cocktails and private seating areas. 🍸 It also features an a-la-carte menu.
This one is a great shout for families, as it’s a comfortable airport lounge that offers buffet-style food, a fully tended bar and workspaces. It also features runway views 🛫
But please note, Pirates, bubbles and cocktails are an additional cost.
So next time you get through security and want to chill, head to a lounge. You can stretch out, pour yourself a cheeky glass of fizz 🥂 and start the holiday properly.
If you're like us and love to get to the airport early, a bit of shopping is always in order while you wait to go to your gate.
At Heathrow, you have the added bonus of doing some pre-shopping online from home to get an extra 10% off World Duty Free. Then, once you sail through security, you can pick up your purchases with the Reserve & Collect option and be ready to rock your holiday in style. We especially love this option as it saves us a lot of time before going on holiday. Plus, the Duty Free bag is allowed on the plane in addition to your carry on at no extra price.
Not sure what you're allowed to bring into your final destination? Some countries have regulations on what's allowed to bring into their border, such as a certain amount of alcohol or cigarettes. When you make a purchase, you'll be asked to present your boarding card to ensure the items purchased are applicable for your final destination.
Need a new pair of sunnies for your holiday? Maybe you've been eyeing a particular designer bag or just want to pick up a nice bottle of something to enjoy on your holiday. Whatever it is you're looking for, you'll be able to shop it at Heathrow.
