Legrad Croatia

Buy a house in Croatia for less than half the cost of a Freddo (11p)! 😱

Are you looking for a house? Why not venture abroad... it's cheaper than buying a house in the UK right now 😅 That's for sure. You've got no money? No problem! Then this could be your chance to own your own home!

The small Croatian town of Legrad has been struggling with a drastic population decline for a while now. They want to increase the population again and have come up with an idea in 2018 that we think you're going to like... they offer houses at an absolute bargain price of €0.13 (that's 11p)! That's much cheaper than buying a single Freddo at Sainsbury's (and no, not just because inflation has made them stupidly expensive compared to the good ol' days).

Their strategy seems to be working already: 5 ready-to-move-in houses and 17 project-houses have already been sold at super low prices, three families have moved to the small town on the Hungarian border and have even had children since moving.

However, there are a few conditions to buying these houses:

  • You must be under 45 years old

  • You must live in a partnership (marital or extramarital)

  • You can't have a criminal record

  • You are not allowed to own any property yet

Sounds too good to be true? Well, unfortunately, there is a catch: not all the houses are in the best condition, some are even downright ruins. Although you will receive financial support for the renovation, you will still have to spend some money...

According to the mayor of the town, new homes for sale will soon be advertised.
