Yi Peng is the Lantern Festival which is celebrated mostly in the northern section of Thailand. It involves hundreds of people gathering to release lanterns into the sky with their wishes and hopes, and has become a bit of a must-do for tourists visiting.
The best place to celebrate the festival is in Chang Mai and the date changes each year as it takes place the day of the full moon in the second month of the Lanna lunar calendar.
