If you're heading to France and enjoy a cigarette while out and about, there's a big change you'll want to know about.
From 1 July, smoking will be banned in most outdoor public areas where children are present – including beaches, parks, and public gardens.
With the wellbeing of children in mind, French authorities are taking a firm stance. Break the rules and you could face a €135 fine, so it's worth keeping in mind when planning your trip.
That said, smoking will still be allowed in the outdoor areas of cafés and bars (so called terrasses), so you won’t have to give up that iconic morning espresso and cigarette combo just yet.
🚫 And what about vaping? Back in February, France became the second country in Europe (after Belgium) to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes. On top of that, vaping is also banned in areas where children are present.
So if you’re travelling with a vape or a pack of smokes, be sure to check the local law – France is tightening the rules.
